From first catches to record breakers: Triple Fish is back in 2026

March 31, 2026 by Reel Recreation

Last April, the shoreline at Coulee Playland Resort was alive with laughter, wide eyes, and tangled fishing lines. Over 200 rainbow trout had just been released into netted enclosures on Banks Lake — thanks to the generous support of Pacific Seafood — and for dozens of kids, it was their first-ever fish.

That was Funday Friday, the kickoff to Reel Recreation’s annual Triple Fish Challenge weekend. It’s a full day of free outdoor fun, where families and kids rotate through archery lessons, gold panning, canal safety demos, rainbow trout fishing, and more. You don’t need experience — just a love for fresh air and the thrill of trying something new.

Then comes the tournament. The Triple Fish Challenge invites anglers of all ages to catch walleye, bass, and trout two days in a row, with prizes for both youth and adult divisions. Last year, the energy at Sunday’s weigh-in hit a high when a record-breaking 14.19 lb walleye was pulled from the scale — the biggest fish in tournament history.

But it’s not just about trophies. It’s about families fishing side-by-side, camp chairs by the water, kids cheering each other on, and everyone walking away with a memory.

This year’s event is set for April 17–19, 2026, and it’s shaping up to be even bigger.

Triple Fish is more than a tournament — it’s a weekend where everyone belongs outdoors.

We’d love to see you there.
