We don’t only consume food

July 14, 2026 by Callie Preston

It seems like everywhere you look in today’s world there is an influx of information about all the toxins in our environment. From microplastics, forever chemicals, PFA’s, and regular life stressors, it’s hard to know if we can ever make choices that are truly clean. If we can’t fully avoid these things, do our decisions even matter? Yes, of course they do! Just because the majority of corporations are doing the wrong thing, it doesn’t mean that everyone is. In order to make lasting, impactful changes, we as consumers can focus on supporting those who are doing things right in our communities.

What we eat can be one of the most important choices we can make. Instead of chain restaurants that have tons of added sugar and processed ingredients, try finding places that use clean, whole foods. At Settler’s Market, we pride ourselves on using all real fruits in our smoothies and juices, and doing it organically whenever we can. You never have to worry about an ingredient list a mile long with us, because we want to make the choice to be clean easier for you! We also stock brands who care about our planet’s long-term health, whether it be local honey, regenerative herbal brands, or grass-fed and pasture raised meats.

One of the biggest choices we can make when it comes to health is what we put into our body. This isn’t just our diet, it’s what we take in with our eyes and ears. You can avoid every kind of edible toxin and live in a bubble your entire life, but if you’re feeding yourself negativity and stress online, none of it will matter. It’s an amazing time to have so much information available, however, our nervous systems aren’t wired to have every issue in the entire world constantly being fed to us. By giving continuous access, you will never feel truly regulated. Go outside, hang with friends, shop local in your downtown, and be in your community. These are the actions and choices that truly matter.
